Description:

Love, hate, the complexities of our times lacking simple solutions – resonating in Jazzamor’s question: Isn’t it strange to be in Paradise? When we sing our love songs and when we celebrate the wonderful experience of humans embracing each other in a rather mystical happening of emphatic passion, we cannot deny the fact that in each and every case there are others in fear and horror, being tortured and slaughtered for nothing but the raging passion of hate. Is it not strange to be in paradise at the same time? To live in a world where we are supported in all kinds of ways, while at the same time other humans suffer? What is there to do with this strangeness to be? We are confronted with this human contradiction whether we like it or not. We can look away, or we can face these opposing appearances of life and the questions they pose. We choose every time we look at it. But to go beyond we must look into what provides us with that option. Our nature which is able to love and to hate almost at the same time. The transit well of wonderment. This never failing fertile fountainhead. There is the profound experience of creativity, the explosion of ideas, the blitz of insight. Creativeness itself is the strange exotic lead and it’s only restriction is the narrowness of hate. It has no image. It is a kind of abstraction without an idea. But because it is providing our life with a constant flow of ideas we do not need anything beyond it. The unknown given of all this real was non as life begun. At one point no-one was categorized as black, white, male, female, Christian, Jew, Moslem but somehow these narratives evolved. They have a history. They where suppressed, privileged, preached, forced, annihilated. They came from next to nothing. They became stories – histories – and an empty bird of wonderment is touching them lightly with superb grace to breathe life into them. That is: we do! And we have to be curious about what else we can achieve. We should not turn away from suffering, even when we do have no inkling about an answer. Nor should we be content with the easy answers the experts give us – let us not forget: They depend on histories. Let us consider directly the questions posed by humans lost in paradise, humans who die in paradise, just as the dice are cast.

Description:

Best known as the third youngest member of the eccentric, award-winning, traditional German/Irish band the Kelly Family (also known as “The Kellys”), Michael Patrick Kelly, who also goes by the name Paddy Kelly, was born in Dublin, Ireland on December, 5, 1977 to American teacher Daniel Jerome Kelly and American dancer Barbara Ann Kelly. Kelly spent his formative years busking and performing with his multi-generational family troupe throughout Europe and the United States. By the time the mid-’90s rolled around, the Kelly Family had become an international tour de force, and the multi-talented “Paddy” had become a bit of a teen idol. Overwhelmed by the media attention and overall stresses of public life, Kelly quit the family business in 2004 (after issuing his debut solo album In Exile the year prior) and spent six years in a monastery in France, where he sought to gain some personal perspective after a largely nomadic early life. In 2010 he decided to return to writing and recording music, and in 2015 he issued his second solo outing, Human, via Sony Music. ~ James Christopher Monger

Description:

Kygo (born Kyrre Grvell-Dahll in Bergen, Norway) broke through with a sound termed “tropical house” that tended to be brighter and more relaxed than that of his commercial dance music contemporaries. In 2013, the Avicii-inspired producer and DJ reached number one on Norway’s VG-lista chart with his slow-galloping remix of Seinabo Sey’s “Younger.” He gained additional attention through remixes of Marvin Gaye’s “Sexual Healing” and Ed Sheeran’s “I See Fire.” Signed to an international deal with Sony that placed him on RCA in the U.S. and on Syco in the U.K., he released his first proper single, “Firestone,” in 2014. Featuring a lead vocal from Conrad Sewell, the song not only went to number one in Norway but reached the Top Ten in several other territories. The following year, the Parson James collaboration “Stole the Show” was Kygo’s second consecutive solo number one hit in Norway. Later that year, “Nothing Left,” featuring Will Heard, became his third Norwegian chart-topper. These hits, along with additional singles that featured Labrinth, Kodaline, and James Vincent McMorrow, preceded his debut full-length LP Cloud Nine, which was released in May 2016 and quickly went to number one in Norway. That month, two tracks he produced with Stargate appeared on Fifth Harmony’s 7/27. In February 2017, Kygo released “It Ain’t Me,” a collaboration with American singer Selena Gomez which reached number ten on the Billboard pop chart. “First Time,” another collaboration, this time with British singer Ellie Goulding, quickly followed. ~ Andy Kellman

Description:

Miley Ray Cyrus (born Destiny Hope Cyrus; November 23, 1992) is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. After playing minor roles in the television series Doc and the film Big Fish in her childhood, she became a teen idol starring as the character Miley Stewart in the Disney Channel television series Hannah Montana in 2006. Her father Billy Ray Cyrus also starred in the show. She subsequently signed a recording contract with Hollywood Records, and her debut studio album Meet Miley Cyrus (2007) was certified triple-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) having shipped over three million units. She released her second album Breakout and launched her film career as a voice actress in the animated film Bolt in 2008.

Cyrus starred in the feature film Hannah Montana: The Movie, and began cultivating a more mature image with her EP The Time of Our Lives in 2009. In 2010, she released her third album Can’t Be Tamed, which stands as the lowest-selling record of her career, and starred in the coming-of-age film The Last Song. Cyrus focused on her acting career with several television and film appearances in 2011 and 2012. Her sexually explicit behavior generated widespread controversy while promoting her fourth album Bangerz (2013), her first under her recording contract with RCA Records. Cyrus’ independently-released fifth studio album Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz (2015) deviated from her traditional pop style for more psychedelic experimentation. In 2016, she was a coach for the eleventh season of the singing competition series The Voice.

With Bangerz, Cyrus achieved her third number-one album on the U.S. Billboard 200, and fifth overall including Hannah Montana soundtrack albums. She has logged eight top 10 entries on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 with: “See You Again”, “7 Things”, “The Climb”, “Party in the U.S.A.”, “Can’t Be Tamed”, “We Can’t Stop”, “Malibu” and the chart-topping “Wrecking Ball”. Cyrus has earned numerous awards and nominations, as Billboard ranked her as the fourth best-selling female artist of 2009. She was ranked number thirteen on Forbes’ Celebrity 100 in 2010, and in 2013 was declared “Artist of the Year” by MTV. She has been included on the Time 100 list of most influential people in 2008 and 2014.

Sample Rate: 44.1 kHz / 16 Bit

Description:

Megadeth is an American thrash metal band from Los Angeles, California. Guitarist Dave Mustaine and bassist David Ellefson formed the band in 1983 shortly after Mustaine’s dismissal from Metallica. A pioneer of the American thrash metal scene, the band is credited as one of the genre’s “big four” with Anthrax, Metallica and Slayer, responsible for thrash metal’s development and popularization. Megadeth plays in a technical style, featuring fast rhythm sections and complex arrangements. Themes of death, war, politics and religion are prominent in the song lyrics.

In 1985, the band released its debut album on the independent label Combat Records. The album’s moderate commercial success caught the attention of bigger labels, which led to Megadeth signing with Capitol Records. Their first major-label album, Peace Sells… but Who’s Buying?, was released in 1986 and influenced the underground metal scene. Despite its prominence in thrash metal, frequent disputes between its members and substance abuse issues brought Megadeth negative publicity during this period.

After the lineup stabilized, the band released a number of platinum-selling albums, including Rust in Peace (1990) and Countdown to Extinction (1992). These albums, along with touring worldwide, helped bring public recognition to Megadeth. The band temporarily disbanded in 2002 when Mustaine suffered an arm injury and re-established in 2004 without bassist Ellefson, who had taken legal action against Mustaine. Ellefson settled with Mustaine out of court and rejoined the group in 2010. Megadeth has hosted its own music festival, Gigantour, several times since mid-2005.

As of 2014, Megadeth had sold 50 million records worldwide, earned platinum certification in the United States for five of its fifteen studio albums, and received twelve Grammy nominations. Megadeth won its first Grammy Award in 2017 for the song “Dystopia” in the Best Metal Performance category. The band’s mascot, Vic Rattlehead, regularly appears on album artwork and, since 2010, in live shows. The group has experienced controversy over its musical approach and lyrics, including canceled concerts and album bans. MTV has refused to play two of the band’s videos that the network considered to condone suicide.
